Can you imagine Miami, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Corpus Christi, or Galveston without palm trees? People in Lone Star have tried to figure out how to sell the idea of the city as a lake town. There is really no better way than to encourage people to grow palm trees around the city and especially on the main highway. We know that they can make it in this climate as there is a 50 foot palm tree between Lone Star and Daingerfield. The only issue is that palm trees grow very slowly and are very expensive to buy. The goal of this project is to facilitate the cultivation of palm trees by planting seedlings which will take a long time to reach full size. And, to obtain free palm trees from the Houston area where they can sometimes be found when people want them removed from their yard. If you have property along Highway 259 and would like to have palm trees planted, please call 979-229-5805.
